• The Mississippi Main Street Association is the most successful economic development project in the history of our state and is responsible for  the creation of 2,409 new businesses and 16,839 new jobs

• Private investment in Mississippi, as a direct result of Main Street, tops $1.2 Billion

• Public investment in Mississippi, as a direct result of Mains Street, is in excess of $148 million

• Mississippi Mains Street is the #1 Main Street program in the nation

• The City of Macon is one of only 42 municipalities in Mississippi that are Main Street Communities

• Main Street is and will remain the primary development tool of the Mississippi Development Authority

A recently completed study by the Mississippi Main Street Association indicates that Noxubee County leaches approximately $50 million per year in business to surrounding counties.  The sales taxes lost to surrounding counties could be utilized at home to repave streets, build sidewalks, provide police and fire protection, etc.
